Konica Minolta relocates regional HQ to Turkey, seeks new growth opportunities
17.11.2015

Dünya – Japanese manufacturer of imaging and business products is seeking new growth opportunities in Turkey following the relocation of its headquarters covering Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa to Istanbul.

The company is considering investing in production in Turkey, according to its country manager, Toshiyuki Yamada, who added that acquisition options were also on the table.
Stating that the company grew 20 percent between 2012 and 2014, Yamada said that new investments would bring stronger growth.

“Turkey is growing market with a young and well-educated population. Konica Minolta’s global management has high expectations from the Turkish market and considering long-term investments in the country. Since the establishment of our Turkey office in 2012, we have been doing feasibility studies and evaluating investment opportunities. The next phase of our presence in Turkey will include new investments and possibly company acquisitions,” he said.

Speaking of moving their regional headquarters from Malta to Istanbul, Yamada praised Turkey’s geographical advantage as a natural bridge between East and West, easily accessible location and advanced infrastructure. “Our operations in Central Asia and the Middle East will be serviced from Istanbul”, he noted.

Drawing attention to Toyota’s presence and Honda’s plants in Turkey, Yamada said that Japanese companies have turned the country into regional production hub. “There are a number of Japanese companies operating in Turkey of whose experience we are benefiting from,” he said.

More than 200 Japanese automotive, chemicals, finance, services, food, logistics and wholesale companies are active in Turkey.
