Zaman – Ford Otosan’s Gebze Engineering Center has become the third largest research and development (R&D) facility in the global giant’s European operations, according to the company’s Vice President of Marketing and Sales Department, Aykut Ozuner.

“The number of engineers engaged in R&D work has risen to 1,100 up from 200 within 2 years. This engineering capability is specialized in developing technologies that are mainly used in light commercial vehicles (LCVs) manufactured by Ford..”, Ozuner said in a TV interview.

“Aware of technology’s increased use in motor vehicles, Ford has invested heavily in R&D in Turkey..” he said, adding that Ford Otosan’s facility in Gebze, Kocaeli has become the third largest of its kind in Europe.

Turkish unit of the US automaker Ford Motor Co., manufactures light commercial vehicles (LCV) and lightweight trucks in Turkey and exports to 70 countries worldwide including the US.
