Chinese investments in Turkey may reach USD 2 billion in 2010

09.03.2010

Sabah - Selim Kervanci, Head of HSBC Investment Banking, said 2010 will be a year of acquisitions in Turkey and that Chinese companies are expected to play a major role in the upcoming deals.

Selim Kervanci pointed out that the interest of Far Eastern investors in Turkey is increasing and said, “The Chinese have been observing the market for a while, but this year we can see them acting and acquiring companies in the energy and other sectors. We expect USD 2 billion of Chinese investments this year” he added.

Kervanci underlined that Chinese companies are especially interested in the automotive, energy and infrastructure sectors and that the number of Chinese investors will increase with the privatizations in the pipeline.
