Hurriyet Daily News - One of Turkey’s key industries, the textile sector, has emerged from the global economic crisis and seems to be back on its feet, proving once again how valuable it is for the overall economy.

Export data for August show that the sector has left behind the automotive industry, which had been regarded as the backbone of Turkish exports.

According to data from the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly, textile and ready-wear exports totaled USD 1.18 billion in August, while automotive exports totaled USD 1 billion.
