Japan-based Toyota Motor Corporation is one of the leading automakers in the world and, together with its subsidiaries, it produces a full range of models - from compact cars to large trucks. During 2016, global sales of Toyota and Lexus brands, combined with those of Daihatsu and Hino, totaled 10.17 million units on a retail basis. In addition to a number of manufacturing subsidiaries and affiliates, Toyota has 66 manufacturing companies in a total of 29 countries and locations that produce Lexus and Toyota branded vehicles and components. Toyota employs around 365,000 people worldwide on a consolidated basis, and markets vehicles in more than 170 countries and locations.

 

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey (Toyota Turkey) is one of Toyota's vehicle production bases in Europe. Located in the northwestern Anatolian province of Sakarya, Toyota Turkey currently manufactures the C-HR, Corolla, and Verso models. Since 2002, Toyota Turkey’s accumulated exports have totaled USD 24.4 billion. Toyota Turkey’s cumulative production to date is over 2 million units, and more than 85 percent of its production is allocated for exports to nearly 100 countries. These include Western and Eastern European countries, as well as Middle Eastern, North African, and Central Asian countries and North American countries including the US. Today, with its annual production capacity of 280,000 units, Toyota Turkey is the largest production plant of Toyota in Europe and is also one of the largest automotive manufacturers and exporters in Turkey.

 

Turkey's geographical location with its young, disciplined, and capable workforce, has made the country the right place for Toyota’s investments. Toyota is pleased to have invested in Turkey and will continue to produce and export high-quality products. The company’s production and number of employees have scaled in line with increasing investments. Toyota Turkey has invested EUR 1.8 billion since its establishment, and currently has 5,500 employees. 10 percent of the employees speak Japanese, while the majority of the office employees speak English.
