Zaman - Mercedes-Benz, German manufacturer of motor vehicles with truck and bus production in Turkey, saw its truck sales in the country increase by 181 percent in the first quarter of 2011, year-on-year.
Mercedes-Benz Turk, the local division of the group, sold 3,551 trucks in the first three months of the year, a figure second only to Germany. In addition, the company almost tripled its heavy truck sales in the first quarter with 1,887 vehicles sold. Actros model trucks manufactured in the company’s Turkish plant proved especially popular among logistic companies with large fleets.
The company’s total sales of trucks in Turkey surpassed its sales in the UK, France, Italy and Spain combined, making Turkey the second biggest market of Mercedes-Benz trucks after Germany.
