French energy firm expands investments in Turkey

Today’s Zaman – The French energy management company Schneider Electric announced on Thursday that it started work on the construction of a new power plant in Manisa. In a written statement, the company said they have invested some EUR 15 million in the plant, which will be located on a 55,200 square meter plot of land. According to the statement, the first part of the eco-friendly plant will go into operation by the end of this year and is expected to be completed after further investments. Turhan Turhangil, General Manager of Schneider Turkey, said their energy production capacity in Turkey will be doubled with this new plant. “We expect to meet domestic and external demand,” he explained, adding, “We will continue with investments despite the crisis.” He stressed that they plan to invest another EUR 50 million in Turkey over the next three years.
