Today’s Zaman - The number of passengers flying with Turkish Airlines (THY) rose 25 percent from January to August year on year, according to an announcement made on Thursday by the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).
The data showed that the number of passengers increased from 25.4 million in January-August 2012 to 31.7 million in the same period this year. Domestic flights were up 24.2 percent and THY's international flights were up 25.1 percent.
The carrier also increased its business class passengers by 24.8 percent in the same period. The number of transit passengers went up 30.2 percent. In addition, the carrier's seat occupancy rate rose 2.5 percent to hit 79.8 percent year on year. Meanwhile, the number of THY landings rose 22 percent to 240,749 from January-August 2013.
