Today’s Zaman - Chinese technology company Huawei, one of world's leading telecommunications network solutions providers, expects to establish a new research and development (R&D) center in Istanbul, the company announced on Wednesday.
Huawei is in partnership with Turkey's mobile phone operators Turkcell, Vodafone and Avea in order to build their 3G networks. Huawei Turkey said 2008 was a very bright year for the company's global operations. Huawei's global sales climbed 46 percent year-on-year to reach USD 23.3 billion in 2008. The technology company estimates that its sales may exceed USD 30 billion in 2009.
Huawei Turkey said the company aims to expand its presence in Turkey and that its primary goal is to open an R&D center in Istanbul. Huawei has 14 R&D centers around the world and employs almost half of its nearly 87,500 staff at these centers. Huawei added that they started preparatory work for the construction of the new center in Istanbul.
