Zaman - British mobile operator Vodafone has increased its turnover by 30 percent in Turkey, a remarkable feat for the company with over 375 million users worldwide. Vodafone Turkey’s turnover reached TRY 3.7 billion (approx. USD 2.3 billion) and profits amounted to TRY 447 million (approx. USD 278 million) according to 2010-2011 fiscal year results, making the local branch the highest performing company of Vodafone Group.
The mobile operator’s recent success rests on its customer-oriented strategy in effect for the last two years. With 16.8 million users, Vodafone Turkey has the second largest number of mobile subscribers in Turkey and claims 27 percent of the mobile market in terms of generated income. The company’s total investment amount in Turkey since it began operating under its own name is around TRY 11 billion (approx. USD 6.8 billion).
