Talks imminent on Italy's inclusion in Samsun-Ceyhan

Today’s Zaman - Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz said on Monday that Turkey and Russia will commence talks this week, aiming to bring Italy's energy company, Eni, into the Samsun-Ceyhan crude oil pipeline project. The minister spoke to reporters following his meeting with Thomas Mirow, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), at his office in Ankara. Mirow congratulated Turkey on its economic performance and its speed of recovery from global market turmoil following the collapse of the US housing market. "I want to express this with pleasure: that Turkey has been the country that attained the fastest progress in investments, compared with other countries we operate in. We think now is the best time to take new steps and initiate new investments in the energy sector," he noted.
