Today’s Zaman - Turkey will likely emerge from the ongoing global financial crisis much stronger thanks to the successful structural reforms it has recently undergone, World Economic Forum (WEF) President Klaus Schwab has said. Speaking to the Anatolia news agency in Davos on Wednesday, Schwab said Turkey was the top country in its region in economic and diplomatic terms.
Among the merits that will lead Turkey out of the perilous economic environment, he listed Turkey's identity as a secular Muslim country, which allows it to establish relations with the Western world as well as the East. Its geographic location between the East and West also gives it influence on both sides, he added. Schwab noted that Turkey was on the energy and commerce route between Europe and Asia and stressed that it could establish healthy relations with the countries in its region.
