Chery chooses Sakarya as its factory site

Bugun - Chinese car maker Chery’s investment plans in Turkey have entered a new phase with the selection of the factory site. Sakarya’s Karasu district is the designated region for Chery’s 1,700 m² of land to build a car manufacturing plant, according to Murat Mermer, Vice Chairman of the company’s Turkish distributor, Mermerler Otomotiv. Mermer said that they have completed all the preliminary studies and the infrastructure evaluation and intend to start building in 2009 if the land allocation process allows it. “We want to stir up the region economically and we have shared our vision with the representing member of the parliament. We want to establish a car manufacturing plant in Sakarya. The plant will provide employment opportunities for some 10,000 people” he noted.
