Istanbul’s ferry services privatization gathers pace

Zaman - The Istanbul Deniz Otobusleri A.S.’s (IDO) privatization process entered a new phase as 11 possible investors interested in the acquisition of Türkiye’s largest city’s ferry services company purchased the tender specifications document, generating USD 550,000 of income for the municipality. Having been put to tender on January 6, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality subsidiary IDO is one of the key companies planned to be privatized in 2011.

Local and foreign investors, some as consortiums, have expressed interest in the tender and bids from maritime operators, private equities, infrastructure developers and other strategic investors are expected. The last bidding date for the tender is March 13.
