Turkish-German economic cooperation meeting held in Ankara

Today’s Zaman - A meeting entitled “50 Years of Turkish-German Economic Cooperation” took place in Ankara on Monday. During the event, Turkish Treasury Undersecretary Ibrahim Halil Canakci stressed the importance of the relations between the two countries. During his speech, Canakci said Turkey's connections with Germany cover several areas such as the economy, politics, defense and culture and that Germany is of great importance as regards Turkey's exports and imports. “The first of the Turkish-German financial and technical cooperation protocols, which was signed in 1958, continued for 50 years, and Turkey has been granted EUR 3 billion in loans and grants within the scope of the protocols” he said. German Ambassador to Turkey Eckart Cuntz said Turkey and Germany have a long-standing and traditional friendship and that there has been sound financial and technical cooperation between the two countries for 50 years. Turkish and German relations have been advancing in several areas as well, he stated.
