Turkish unit aiming to undertake high-tech development for Ford

Zaman – Ford Otosan, the JV established by Turkey’s Koc Holding and carmaker Ford, is a likely candidate to develop engines and other technologies for Ford-branded motor vehicles in the future, according to its Director General Haydar Yenigun.
“Ford Otosan aims to become a high-tech engineering center for Ford products manufactured in Turkey and in the world. Currently, Ford Otosan’s Gebze Engineering Center is responsible for the calibration of diesel engines that Ford manufactures elsewhere in the world. Ecotorq engines used in Cargo heavy trucks are designed and manufactured in Turkey. We will take this capability further in the future...” Yenigun said in an interview given to the company’s corporate magazine.
Ford Otosan’s Gebze Engineering Center has become the third largest of its kind for the global automaker with 1,200 personnel involved in research and development in the facility.
