Turkey’s auto exports soar in September

Zaman - Turkey exported 31 percent more motor vehicles and parts in September compared to a year earlier, bringing in USD 2 billion of revenue, the highest ever in the last 60 months, according to figures released by the Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters Union (OIB).

Revitalized by the upturn in demand in Europe, Turkey’s largest export market, the country’s automotive industry exported USD 15.7 billion of automotive products in the last 9 months, an increase of 12 percent over the same period of 2012, signalling an upward revision in the annual export forecast of USD 20 billion.

The sixth largest auto manufacturer and the top maker of light commercial vehicles in Europe, Turkey’s auto industry rolled out 1.1 million motor vehicles in 2012 under well-known brands including Toyota, Ford, Renault, Fiat, Honda, and Hyundai.

Many of the carmakers in Turkey have been adding new models and increasing their factory capacities in Turkey for the last few years.
