Turkish Airlines orders 13 new aircraft from Airbus

Today’s Zaman - Aircraft manufacturer Airbus has announced that Turkish Airlines (THY) has placed an order for the purchase of ten A321s and three A330-200F freighter aircraft.

According to a written statement released by Airbus on Wednesday, THY has a further 27 aircraft on order with Airbus from contracts signed in 2009 and 2010 to meet THY's growth plans in both the passenger and cargo markets. The new aircraft will join THY's existing fleet of 75 Airbus aircraft, including four A310 freighters, 50 A320-family aircraft, 11 A330s, one A330-200F and nine A340s.

As one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, Turkey’s flag carrier is in a process of expanding its aircraft fleet to reach new destinations. The company aims to carry 35 million passengers in 2011.
