Turk Telekom awarded for environmentally friendly project

Today’s Zaman - Turkey's leading telecommunications operator, Turk Telekom, has received an internationally respected award for its “E-Fatura Forests” project, which aims to increase environmental awareness among Turks by delivering electronic bills. In a written statement, Turk Telekom said the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) has awarded the company its excellence award in the category of "Corporate and Business Communications." The results of the electronic billing application have far exceeded Turk Telekom's targets, achieving widespread media attention and converting 850,000 customer statements. So far, 4.2 million mt of paper have been saved, while around 89,000 trees have been planted in specially designed Turk Telekom forests in 69 cities throughout Turkey, helping lift the company's environmental credentials. The E-Fatura Forests project has received two other awards from the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) and the Turkish Public Relations Association (TUHID).
