Economy Minister Simsek heads to Dubai for investment conference

Today's Zaman - Economy Minister Mehmet Simsek is leaving for Dubai today to participate in an international investment conference with hopes of bringing businessmen from the Gulf region to Turkey. On Tuesday, Simsek will give a presentation on Turkey's economic developments as well as invite Gulf investors to Turkey for investment at the "Opportunities North of the Border" conference organized by EFG Istanbul Securities, a leading investment bank based in Istanbul and a member of Eurobank EFG group. The conference is scheduled to last through Jan. 16. Meanwhile, Privatization Administration (OIB) President Metin Kilci and Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Vice President Saban Disli will make a speech at the conference on Wednesday. Moreover, around 30 private equity fund representatives from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar will convene at the private meeting with 10 private company representatives to evaluate cooperation opportunities on investment. Simsek and the Turkish delegation will return to Turkey on Jan.17.
