Turkish bank wins Financial Times sustainable banking award

Today’s Zaman - The Turkish Industry and Development Bank (TSKB) on Sunday won the Sustainable Emerging Markets Bank of the Year Award from the Financial Times Sustainable Banking Awards. Since 1950, the TSKB has devoted itself to the concept of sustainable development and environmental conservation, and it has earned a reputation in Türkiye for pioneering the adoption of corporate governance and socially responsible policies. TSKB disburses environmental loans, designed to finance sustainable and environmentally focused investments. In renewable energy loans alone, the TSKB has 53 multi-million dollar projects. As the first and only Turkish-owned bank to have an ISO14001 banking certification for its environmental management systems, the TSKB uses every opportunity to create environmental and innovative financial solutions and social responsibility projects. With its Sustainable Banking Awards, the Financial Times recognizes banks that have shown leadership and innovation in integrating social, environmental and corporate governance. The program has grown in popularity, and this year the winner was selected from a record 182 entries from 129 institutions across 54 countries. The TSKB is the first and only Turkish bank to receive the award since its initiation.
