Chemical exports to reach USD 12 billion in 2010

Today’s Zaman - Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) Chemicals Industry Assembly President Timur Erk said the chemicals sector’s exports in 2010 are expected to reach USD 12 billion.

Erk told the Anatolia news agency on Saturday that the chemicals sector is one of the fastest growing sectors in Türkiye and added that it ranks third or fourth among all sectors in Türkiye in terms of sector specific growth in Turkish industry. “The chemicals sector’s exports account for 10 percent of Türkiye’s total exports. According to TOBB data, chemicals exports for the first 10 months of 2010 surpassed USD 10 billion. We expect this figure to reach USD 12 billion for the entire year,” Erk noted.

The leading customers for Turkish chemical products in 2010 were Iraq with USD 601 million, followed by Germany with USD 557 million, and Russia with USD 444 million.
