Tekel became a British company, $1.7 billion in the cash box

Bugun - The tobacco unit within Tekel was officially taken over by BAT, the British company which had won the tender, with the agreement signed yesterday. $1,720 billion, the tender price, was put in the cash box of the Treasury yesterday via Ziraat Bank. Metin Kilci, President of Privatization Administration, has stated that the privatization of Tekel, which was preceded by those of Tupras and Petkim, has demonstrated that privatization program is being applied decisively.
