Turkey’s economic prowess wins regional prominence

Zaman - Turkey’s successful management of the financial crisis and rapid recovery have carried the country to the headlines once again. In an article published in the US daily, The Washington Times, the steady economic growth is considered to be the driving force behind Turkey’s increasing influence in its region and that the country is now among the emerging economies that nearly make up half of the global economy.

The article cited Turkey’s Minister of Economy, Ali Babacan saying, “Turkey's sound financial condition surpasses those of most European countries and has made it increasingly attractive to investors and businesses looking for opportunities.” Authored by Patrice Hill, the article noted the steady and almost uninterrupted growth for the past ten years, which helped the long-time US ally become an regional power in strategic neighborhood and influence world affairs.
