“EU should be interested in the added-value Turkey will bring”

Zaman - Cristian Diaconescu, Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, said the European Union (EU) should consider the added-value to be brought by Turkey and some Western Balkan countries, rather than prolonging their membership process. The Romanian Minister stressed the fact that Turkey is closer to the crisis regions than NATO and EU member countries and is more active than these countries, which cannot be disregarded. According to Diaconescu, expansion is indispensible for maintaining the internal dynamics of both the EU and NATO.
