Turkey’s exports in 2010 exceed USD 112 billion

Today’s Zaman – Zafer Caglayan, Turkey’s State Minister for Foreign Trade, stated that Turkey had met its export target for 2010. Speaking to reporters at the annual New Year’s celebration held by the Economic Journalists Association (EGD) in Istanbul, Caglayan announced that the country’s total export volume exceeded USD 112 billion as of Tuesday, and that exporters reached their highest volume of business for the past 27 months in December. Following the contraction of foreign trade, including both exports and imports, as a result of the global economic crisis, Turkey speedily reinvigorated the sector starting from the last quarter of 2009 and almost reached pre-crisis levels.
