Best Buy opens its first European store in Izmir

Today’s Zaman - US-based Best Buy, one of the world’s leading retailers of consumer electronics, entered the Turkish market by opening a store in Izmir, the company’s first store in Europe.

Speaking at a press conference held to announce the inauguration of the store, Best Buy Turkiye President Rusen Kopmaz explained the motive behind the company’s decision to open its first European store in Izmir, saying Izmir has high purchasing power. “It has a young population that is interested in technology and communication and spends money on consumer technology products”, he said, adding that the decision was also made after taking into consideration various criteria such as traffic and parking.

With some 155,000 employees, Best Buy has stores in several international locations, including Canada, China and Mexico.
