According to a report released by the Foreign Trade Undersecretariat on Turkish iron and steel sector, Türkiye's production of raw steel accounted for 2% of the total production in the world. Accordingly, Türkiye became the country with the highest increase in its production of raw steel following the People's Republic of China. The sector has a 11.6% share in Türkiye's total exports. After the recent global rise in price of iron and steel goods, exports by Turkish iron and steel sector climbed 30% to 12.5 billion USD last year.
