RWE-Turcas launch gas power plant project in western Türkiye

Hürriyet Daily News - German energy company RWE and Türkiye’s Turcas held a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday for a EUR 500 million gas-fired combined cycle power plant in the Aegean province of Denizli.

Speaking at the ceremony, Türkiye’s Minister of Energy Taner Yildiz said that they are concentrating their efforts on increasing the share of private sector in Türkiye’s energy sector to better address the growing requirements of the country. “RWE is welcome to invest in further energy projects in Türkiye utilizing different resources,” said Yildiz.

The 775-MW power plant is scheduled to be operational by 2012 and will power 3.5 million homes when working at full capacity.
