Atomstroyexport revises bid for Turkey’s nuclear plant

Bloomberg – The Turkish government has received a revised offer from Russia’s ZAO Atomstroyexport to build the country’s first nuclear plant, Energy Minister Hilmi Guler said. The fresh bid follows an initial offer in Ankara yesterday to provide electricity from the 1,200 megawatt plant to the Turkish grid at 21.16 cents per kilowatt hour for 15 years. Turkey is pressing ahead with plans to construct the nuclear plant near the Mediterranean city of Mersin as it seeks to diversify its power supplies and reduce reliance on imported oil and gas. Legislation allowing a second nuclear plant planned for the northern Black Sea coast, near the province of Sinop, will be debated in parliament soon, Guler said.
