Germany’s fourth-largest travel operator, Alltours, is expecting a record number of German tourists to visit Turkey this year, according to a press release from the company. “For February 2008 we had an overall rise in bookings of 25 percent compared with the same month of the previous year for the coming summer holidays,” announced Alltours CEO Willi Verhuven in a press statement.
The statement also indicates that there was a dramatic increase in the number of tourists who opted to visit Turkey. With growth of up to 17 percent over last summer, Turkey is poised to overtake Spain, which is currently seeing only single-digit growth rates. Alltours spokesperson Jörg Manthei said “In 2008 Turkey developed into one of Alltours’ biggest and most important holiday destinations.”
