Turkish banking sector a shining star in the region

AA – The Turkish banking sector's profit hit TRY 17.4 billion (approx. USD 11.5 billion) in the first ten months of 2009, said Tevfik Bilgin, President of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), on Saturday.

Bilgin delivered a speech at a meeting organized by the Turkish Economic Association in Ankara. "The banking sector's profit will reach TRY 20 billion (approx. USD 13 billion) at the end of 2009", Bilgin said.

“The Turkish banking sector is becoming a shining star in the region and the sector should assume a more active role in the Balkans”, he added.
