Oppo Starts Test Production in İstanbul Plant

​​Prominent Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Oppo, has commenced the test production of its phones at its Türkiye facility. 

During his visit to the company, Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank said Oppo is planning to employ nearly 1,000 people once its factory shifts into full-on production. "Oppo’s products with 'Made in Türkiye' labels will hit the shelves very soon," announced Minister Varank. “The construction of the 12,000sqm plant started back in November 2020. The Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing line along with all the other systems will be completed in three months,” Minister Varank further added. 

On a side note, Chinese Xiaomi has revealed that it is aiming to enlarge the spectrum of its products in its Türkiye plant. A senior official revealed they are working on opportunities to produce televisions in Türkiye. Xiaomi’s plant in İstanbul has the capacity to produce 5 million smartphones per year, within the framework of its USD 30 million investment in the country.
