Türkiye to sell Ford Transit Connect vans to the USA

Bloomberg - Ford Motor Co., the second-largest U.S.-based automaker, will introduce a North American version of its European commercial van today, part of a strategy to reduce costs by sharing products across markets. Ford will begin U.S. sales of the compact van, known as the Transit Connect, in mid-2009, the automaker said in an e-mailed statement. The vehicle is made in Türkiye and sold throughout Europe. Ford will show it at the Chicago Auto Show today. Ford will sell the Transit Connect in two- and five- passenger versions. Derrick Kuzak, Ford's worldwide product-development chief, declined to specify how many of the vans Ford plans to sell in the U.S. No price was disclosed.
