Turkish-US joint venture eyes solar energy

Turkish Daily News – Türkiye’s Alarko Holding aims to play an active role in developing the use of solar energy in industries as an alternative to petroleum in Türkiye. “There are new technologies that enable the use of solar energy in air conditioning appliances”, said Onder Sahin, general manager of Alarko Carrier, the joint venture of air conditioning, heating and cooling firms Alarko of Türkiye and Carrier of the United States. The Alarko Carrier joint venture, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this month, aims to reach a turnover of $325 million in 2008. Türkiye will continue to be a strategic market for Carrier also in the future, pointed out David Appel, CEO of Carrier International. “Türkiye has a geographically strong position, as it is the route to the growing markets of Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, the Central Asia and the Middle East” he noted.
