Bridgestone considering second plant in Türkiye

Dünya - Bridgestone is evaluating its options for investing in a new factory to supplement its existing tire-making facility in Türkiye, according to a statement by the company’s Turkish subsidiary, Brisa. The 25-year JV between the Japanese company and Türkiye’s Sabanci Holding currently manufactures a range of tires for cars, trucks and buses in Kocaeli.

The company has invested over USD 800 million in its Türkiye operations since its foundation, the statement on the company’s website read, stating that Türkiye’s economic growth, alongside the potential in the domestic tire market, necessitated a second plant in the country, without disclosing the size and location of the possible investment.

Another Japanese tire maker, Sumitomo Rubber Industries has recently broken ground for a tire factory in Türkiye’s Cankiri province. The USD 500 million investment joins Sumitomo to the ranks of world’s leading tire companies with manufacturing operations in Türkiye, such as Goodyear and Pirelli.
