Akbank-BoC partner to bolster Turkish-Chinese investments

Dünya – Akbank and Bank of China (BoC) have joined forces to provide banking services to Chinese companies planning to do business in Türkiye. The “Chinese Business Desk” in Istanbul established by the two lenders will serve the Chinese investors who are in need of financing or other banking related services.


Türkiye’s stable economy with sustainable growth prospects is attracting an increasing number of Chinese companies, according to Akbank CEO Hakan Binbasgil speaking to the press in the launch event. “The business ties between Türkiye and China are getting stronger and bilateral trade has hit USD 24 billion in 2011…”, he said.
Chinese investments in Türkiye totaled at USD 450 million for the 2007-2011 period, with over 450 Chinese companies currently doing business in Türkiye. Türkiye’s large scale infrastructure, energy and mining projects are closely monitored by Chinese companies, looking for investment opportunities.
