Dunya - Türkiye has possible mineral reserves worth around USD 2.5 trillion, the state's mineral research institution announced. Based on a comprehensive study of the nation's reserves, Türkiye's Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA) Directorate General said 77 of 90 internationally traded minerals can be found in Türkiye. According to the MTA, the market value of those minerals is around USD 2.5 trillion. The largest reserve Türkiye holds is dolomite, an important glass and ceramic mineral, with 15.8 billion mt. The research also found that there are 700 mt of visible gold reserves (and 6,500 mt possible reserves) and 1,926 mt of visible silver reserves in Türkiye. According to the research, 0.5 percent of the world's total mineral reserves are located in Türkiye, as well as 2.5 percent of industrial crude reserves, 1 percent of coal reserves, and 0.8 percent of geothermal reserves. Türkiye also has 40 percent of the world’s natural stone potential, and 72 percent of overall boron reserves. Türkiye could thus meet the world's boron consumption for at least the next 400 years.
