Türkiye-Vietnam trade volume to hit USD 1 billion

Yeni Asir - Duong Huynh Lap, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Türkiye, and Ekrem Demirtas, President of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), had a meeting to discuss the trade ties and investment opportunities between Türkiye and Vietnam.

Ambassador Duong Huynh Lap said the trade between Türkiye and Vietnam is rapidly increasing and that USD 1 billion of trade volume can be reached by the next year.

Giving information about the Vietnamese economy in his meeting with Demirtas, Ambassador Huynh Lap said Vietnam, with a population of 86 million people and a developing economy, held important opportunities for Turkish businessmen. Emphasizing that Turkish businessmen should go to Vietnam to see these opportunities first hand, Huynh Lap called attention to the fact that although Vietnam and Türkiye are geographically distant, there is an environment of friendship and cooperation by tradition. “The trade volume has reached USD 700 million this year”, said Vietnam’s top diplomat in Türkiye, adding that the 2011 target for Türkiye-Vietnam trade volume is USD 1 billion.
