Türkiye and China announce cooperation in nuclear energy

Milliyet - Türkiye and China have signed two agreements on nuclear energy during Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s official visit to China. A letter of intent to increase nuclear cooperation between the two countries alongside a cooperation agreement for peaceful uses of nuclear power come as Türkiye and China hold talks for the building of Türkiye’s second nuclear power plant on the Black Sea coast. Similar negotiations with Japan and South Korea are also ongoing.

Türkiye’s first nuclear power plant is being built by Russian Atomstroyexport in Mersin on the Mediterranean coast. Nuclear energy will account for 10 percent of the country’s power generation by 2030, according to government projections.
