Türkiye outpaces Europe in 3G adaptation

Vatan - Broadband mobile internet usage in Türkiye is fast increasing and the share of 3G users in the country now exceeds the European Union average, said Vodafone Türkiye CEO. Briefing the press about Vodafone’s cooperation deal with mobile phone maker HTC, Serpil Timuray said that 3G penetration in the Turkish cellular network market has now reached 31 percent, exceeding the EU average of 30 percent.

Noting that the availability of 3G has also increased the smartphone usage, Timuray said that smartphone users now constitute 16 percent of the mobile subscriber base in the country and that internet access from mobile devices has increased 25 percent in the 4th quarter of last year. “We strongly believe in the growth potential of mobile internet usage in Türkiye” she added.
