Türkiye’s TAI a key supplier to Airbus A400M

Star - Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) will be the sole supplier of various parts and components for the Airbus A400M, the European manufacturer’s new generation military transport aircraft. Orders from the nations that are partner to the project - France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Türkiye, Belgium, and Luxembourg – totaling 170 aircraft and other possible customers, will earn the Turkish economy at least EUR 1.1 billion according to Osman Soylu, Aircraft Project Manager at Türkiye’s Undersecretariat for Defense Industries.

“Turkish defense and aerospace firms have taken part in the design and manufacturing processes of the A400M,” Soylu said about the project, which involves the participation of each partner nation to varying degrees.” The Turkish Air Force has taken the delivery of the first of its 10-aircraft order last month.

“TAI will make the entire wiring of the aircraft, in addition to various body parts, doors, ailerons, wheel brakes, lighting and waste/fresh water systems on board the plane,” he noted, stating that Türkiye’s 6 percent share in the project will generate EUR 1.1 billion in revenue by 2030.

Having participated in several multinational defense and aerospace related projects, TAI currently supplies Airbus-manufactured A350 and A320 series airliners with parts and components. The company is also a contractor for Lockheed Martin’s F-35 Joint Strike Fighter project.
