Erdogan: Türkiye has central position in world’s largest energy projects

AA – The Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday that Türkiye is located in a region that holds most of the world's natural gas reserves, namely the Middle East and Caspian Basin. "We have ensured that historical projects are implemented, particularly in terms of forming a logistics base in energy" said Erdogan while speaking at a party meeting. Erdogan said the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi visited Türkiye last week, adding, "We signed 20 deals with Russia, mainly on energy, as well as the economy and culture. We have entered a new era in relations. We also signed protocols to boost relations between the two countries on three main topics: gas, oil and energy. Meanwhile, Türkiye has given permission to Russia to carry out feasibility studies to pass the South Stream gas pipeline from Türkiye's exclusive economic region." Erdogan said they had fruitful talks with Putin and Berlusconi, noting that, "Another very important development occurred during the talks in Ankara. Russia decided to join the works jointly carried out by Italy and Türkiye on the Samsun-Ceyhan crude oil pipeline project and committed to giving oil to the pipeline." Erdogan said Türkiye from now on has a different position in the world, with its economy being resistant to big and strong shocks. "Türkiye is at the forefront as a stable country whose views are taken into consideration on international issues and whose arbitration is needed. Türkiye has a central position in big energy projects."
