Ambassador Cuntz: German investments in Türkiye continue to rise

AA - Eckart Cuntz, German Ambassador to Türkiye, said German investments are still showing an uptrend in Türkiye despite the global economic crisis. "The global economic crisis has also affected Germany; however, German investors are still interested in Türkiye", said Cuntz during his meeting held with Sami Bulut, the Governor of the eastern Anatolian province of Erzurum. Cuntz said that 2,100 German businessmen in fact have investments in Türkiye, and that he expects this figure to reach 3,000 over the next three years. The ambassador listed agriculture, energy and finance as priority industries for Germany. During 2008, Türkiye earned almost USD 13 billion from its exports to Germany, whereas its imports stood at USD 18.6 billion. Meanwhile, the trade volume between the two countries reached USD 31.6 billion in the same period.
