Türkiye and Qatar sign MoU on energy

Turk.net - Türkiye's Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz and Qatari Minister of Energy and Industry Abdallah bin Hamad al-Atiyah signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on energy in Doha, Qatar during Yildiz’s formal visits to the Qatari capital. "We should establish a strategic relationship with Qatar, the most important ‘Liquefied Natural Gas’ center in the world", said Yildiz during the signing ceremony. Yildiz also said that the two countries will set up energy working groups that will consider all energy issues in detail. Also, al-Atiyah underlined the importance of diversified energy supply, and said it is the right step for Türkiye to meet its energy need from different countries. After the signing ceremony, Yildiz told reporters that Qatar should take its place in the USD 100 billion worth of energy investments that Türkiye will make in the following 15 years. Türkiye and Qatar previously agreed to establish a joint committee to seek opportunities on energy cooperation during Qatari Amir Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani's visit to Türkiye in August.
