Portuguese EDP to set up solar energy farm in Konya

Dunya – Following Portuguese President Anibal Cavaco Silva's Türkiye visit along with a delegation of 35 businessmen in May, the Portugal Business Development Agency (AICEP) will open a representative office in Istanbul in a move to boost commercial ties between the two countries. Fahri Gokyayla, President of the Turkish–Portuguese Business Council under DEIK (Foreign Economic Relations Board), said EDP, a leading energy company in Portugal, is continuing its efforts to set up a solar energy farm with a Turkish company in the Central Anatolian province of Konya. Gokyayla stated that Pestana and Amorim, leading tourism companies in Portugal, are also seeking a Turkish partner to set up golf courses in Türkiye and added, “I recommended the Cesme district of Izmir to these companies. Portugal is abandoning the traditional sectors and is now moving into more innovative areas. In this regard, it attaches great significance to information technologies. A number of Portuguese companies have held talks with banking and telecommunications companies in Türkiye. I think many partnerships can be established in these sectors.”
