Türkiye eyes place among top five in global tourism sector, minister says

Hurriyet Daily News - Türkiye is aiming to claim a place among the five countries in the world that attract the greatest number of tourists and receive the highest revenue from the sector, according to Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay.

"Hopefully, we will make it into the top five in the global tourism industry both in terms of number of tourists and turnover," said Gunay on Monday at a country-wide meeting of hoteliers in the Turkish capital of Ankara.

Gunay said the Tourism Ministry had made efforts to diversify tourism products and destinations, adding that Türkiye has become renowned in the global sector.

Türkiye expects 28 million tourists to visit the country this year. The UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) lists Türkiye as one of the world's fastest-growing tourism markets.
