Spanish daily: Turkey to embark on massive energy investments

Yeni Safak - Spanish business newspaper Expansion has published a news article about Turkey’s energy and infrastructure projects. “Turkey is about to undertake a massive modernization program, worth more than USD 150 billion,” said the article, also touching upon the country’s EU accession process and Turkish-EU relations.

“Turkey’s large population, increasing income and strategic location altogether make Turkey more attractive than ever in the eyes of Europe,” read the article. Providing an OECD forecast for 2011-2017, the newspaper highlighted the fact that Turkey is expected to top the OECD charts with 6.7 percent of GDP growth.

“Turkish-Spanish trade volume has reached EUR 7 billion and Spanish investments in Turkey amount to EUR 3 billion, with 370 Spanish companies active in the country,” Yasemen Korukcu, ISPAT’s representative in Spain, reportedly said. “The number of Spanish companies in Turkey is set to increase, as the country offers many opportunities,” added Korukcu, inviting Spanish companies to take advantage of Turkey’s investment potential.
