Ford to unveil Turkish-produced Transit at Geneva Auto Show

Milliyet - Ford’s Transit model van is set to show its completely revamped face at this year’s Geneva Auto Show in Switzerland. Slated to be one of the main launches of the US company at the event, the new Transit will enter production late this year at Ford’s Turkish plant located in Golcuk, Kocaeli.

With its design and development largely undertaken by Ford’s local unit, Ford Otosan, the new Transit will require a USD 630 million investment, and will come in two flavors. The first model will follow its predecessor in dimensions, while the second will vary in size and features. The model’s annual production at Ford’s Turkish plant is expected to reach 300,000 vehicles, most of which will be destined for overseas markets.

Ford last week announced plans to build a third factory in Türkiye to produce a new light commercial vehicle (LCV) model with an investment worth USD 320 million, bringing its total production capacity to 400,000 vehicles per year.
