Indesit to invest, expand production in Türkiye

Milliyet – Italian white goods manufacturer Indesit aims to enlarge its share in Türkiye’s durable goods market, company executives said in a press conference in Rome. Indesit targets a 10 percent share in the Turkish market this year, up from 2010’s 8.5 percent and hopes to attain a 15 percent share in the medium term, the group’s European average, according to Chairman Andrea Merloni.

“Türkiye is currently the 5th biggest market in Indesit Group. We expect the country to enter Indesit’s top 3 markets within a decade..”, said Merloni, adding that Indesit would be investing EUR 24 million in production, R&D and marketing operations in Türkiye this year.

“Türkiye is one of the fastest growing markets in Europe and one of Indesit’s 7 priority markets..”, Indesit CEO Marco Milani said at the meeting. Noting that Indesit’s largest refrigerator factory in Europe was located in Manisa,Türkiye, Milani said that the company aimed to produce 1.3 million units of refrigerators in 2011. Indesit Türkiye has more than 1400 employees and exports 80 percent of its production.
